THE NEW BARDOTS RELEASE NEW CARTOONISH VIDEO “YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY”

A strange video with a twist. It reads the title literally bringing the aesthetic of the absurd to another level.
The New Bardots have released a video for their cover of Ohio Express’ “Yummy Yummy Yummy” off their new EP, “Already Been Chewed (A Return to Bubblegum)” released through Bongo Boy Records earlier this year.
“Yummy Yummy Yummy” is a song by Arthur Resnick and Joey Levine, first recorded by Ohio Express in 1968. Their version reached No. 4 on the U.S. Pop Singles chart in June and No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. It has since been covered by many artists. Ohio Express was a studio concoction and none of the “official” members appear on the record. Joey Levine sang lead vocals. Time Magazine included it in its 2011 list of songs with silly lyrics.
“I wanted to do something fun yet different… so I decided to go zombie” – says Wayne Olivieri, lead singer of The NEW Bardots. The video’s style is indeed a peculiar combination of business animation and surprisingly grotesque content.
A strange video with a twist. It reads the title literally bringing the aesthetic of the absurd to another level. The choice of the band was that of scrapping the sugar off a little from the bubblegum genre, to add some modern rock and roll element of irony and fun.
“Already Been Chewed” also includes two other bubblegum classics, 1910 Fruit Company’s “Simon Says” and Crazy Elephant’s “Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’,” plus a cover of the late, great Philly rocker Robert Hazard’s “Change Reaction,” and two originals, “Sweet as Honey” and “Wake Up Smell the Coffee,” which fuse bubblegum beats and melodies with The NEW Bardots members’ many years of edgy punk and garage chops in such bands as The Doughboys, Rockids, Oliver Twist and Oliver Wylde.
