THE MONKEY WEATHER: ‘Sara Wants To Dance’, the new video

‘Sara Wants To Dance’ is the newest video of indie rock trio from Italy The Monkey Weather, who were recently opening for The Vaccines and Kasabian in their respective Italian tours.

The video features a variety of colorful characters (a hipster, a metalhead, a rockabilly, a rapper and so on) mixed in with band members which, in turn, try to grab the female protagonist’s attention, Sara (interpreted by Italian performer and designer Lory Ladydiabolika) who seems to be, though, just willing to dance. Shot at White Chicken Studios, nearby Milan, by Valentina Branchetti (also editor and director of the band’s previous People Watch Me“) on a total white background, with pink and black chromatic effects and an overall sixties-garage allure, also features a few musicians to the likes of Metius, vocalist of punk rock band Thee S.T.P. and Marco Cassone, guitarist of Fuzz Fuzz Machine.

Paul Deckard bass and co-vocalist of The Monkey Weather explains the original idea for the video: “July. We were on our van, heading Ferrara, were we would have opened for the first out of three gigs for legendary Kasabian. Us three Monkeys, plus our manager Kappa and our sound engineer Richard Clay. It was the right time for light hearted chats and random brainstorming and a brilliant idea for the video accompanying “Sara”‘s dances struck us. We wanted something simple, not too fussy, but still of great impact..something that people would remember after seeing it.
We wanted to convey (after the pretty gloomy mood in “People Watch Me”) the fresh, direct and simple side of the The Monkey Weather, without trying to look too artsy. The reaction we wanted to achieve, in those who saw the video, is that of an amused smile and the itch to watch it again and again.. from here the idea of calling an undoubtedly charismatic protagonist, next to our spontaneity and our world, an ethereal and oniric dimension where everything is possible.”
